2 Street Gallery

This is my current work showing in downtown Fairbanks at 2 Street Gallery, a cooperative with more than 25 artists participating.

We are open every day and enjoy visiting with locals and visitors in the Co-op building on Second Avenue.  Check out our Facebook page for upcoming First Friday events, featured artists and other gallery news!

Seaside Studio

Working at a picnic table with the scent of the sea in the air and mountains all around me is a pretty great studio.  Felted, embroidered, beaded ornaments are in progress.

A little something from Alaska

These mementos of Alaska are about 3" diameter, hand embroidered with perle cotton on felted wool, then bead embellished and edged with picot stitch using more perle cotton.

It's that time of year and the salmon are running

These are the tools of my silk screening trade:  screen, textile screen printing paint by Jacquard, freezer paper design stencil, squeegee especially made for printing fabric, thin foam sheet and scrap newsprint for a cushion to print on, and hand-dyed cotton pimatex fabric as a substrate.

Binding Like Crazy

I really enjoy using colorful binding on my work and generally use commercial batiks, though sometimes I opt for solid black or hand-dyed Pimatex.

Moose Herd

Someone needs to guard the herd of moose, after all, and Lincoln has taken that job upon himself.

Printing Up a Storm

The ravens are flying, the cranes are dancing, the caribou migrating, the sled dogs mushing and the rivers are running tonight.

Waves of Anticipation

Today was a PFD (prepare for dyeing) day, and I cut these waves of pimatex cotton that I ordered from  Lisa Call's website into 40-inch pieces.  Because I use eight-inch sections of fabric regularly, it makes sense to cut fabric into yardage divisible by eight.

What will this combination of fabrics become?

Answer: this finished work, "Raven Over the Range."

Design Wall/Work in Progress

Here is a look inside the studio today.  The sled dog quilt, called "Single Lead," is in the process of being machine quilted.

January Palette

It's not warm enough for a rainbow outside, but that's what appeared inside today.
