Printing Day

Today was printing day to finish some pre-soda-soaked fabrics I had started awhile ago. There's such a good flow in the printing process. As the framed print I have in my workshop says, "Time becomes meaningless in the face of creativity." Looking forward to tomorrow's washout for lots of fun surprises.

Making the birch forest

I find more and more that the process of working on all the elements that go into my art is such a source of joy. Today it was creating the fabric that will become birch forests. When I finished this piece I thought, "How can I cut this up?" I want to make something whole cloth with this. Maybe I will. But I know that I have the power to do it again, though the language of the bark will be different, of course.

Quilted Uke

Sometimes there's an idea that sticks, and won't be let go.

I'm going to cover this ukulele with quilted patchwork.  Here's the start.

I felt this

I started creating these felted Pincushions for Democracy in response to an interview I heard between Rebecca Solnit and Heather Cox Richardson, author of Democracy Awakening: Notes on the State of America. It's my way of "taking up oxygen" for democracy, in a time when our poor, battered democracy could use some help and some hope.
